Brilliant new music from Starr Parodi teamed with the stunning and imaginative aerial artistry from Karyne & Sarah Steben - both inspired by the life and art of one of history’s most expressive, controversial and beloved artists - Frida Kahlo
Frida was a muse, feminist, lover, survivor and painter who transformed her suffering into transcendental art. Now, her story is transported into new dimensions with Starr Parodi’s cinematic, imaginative and genre bending musical journey The Heart Of Frida and the intensely beautiful, emotional and suspenseful aerial choreography of the Steben Twins. Guest vocalist Louis Price (former lead singer of The Temptations) joins Starr in her reimagination of Prince’s When Doves Cry that echoes the turmoil, intensity and profound love of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera who were often referred to as The Elephant and the Dove.
With The Heart Of Frida, Starr takes us on journeys that explore post-classical themes and improvisations that reach far beyond the range of traditional solo piano into the realm of emotionally evocative sonic landscapes married to a provocative and surreal visual experience.
